I found my AoE CD in my pile of junk the other day and by chance, the game was already installed on my computer. So I popped it in and gave it a go after a long time of unuse. Finished the first Egyptian learning campaign on Moderate difficulty and it was pretty fun, despite the somewhat slow resource gathering. I was always used to fast-paced C&C type games but I still found it enjoyable. Collecting wood, stone, food, and later gold to slowly build your army and city is very satisfying. All in all it was awesome.
Then I come to the Glory of Greece campaign and now it starts to really get challenging. The first mission, if you don't rush Doria (Red) with your Clubmen and build your base atop theirs early, you will lose hard. Trying to just settle in the place you start at won't end well. After that, there was one mission to build a Goverment Center on some land across water but just when I was about to do that, the save game file corrupted and I lost all my progress. At this point,
